Reorganization of the Public Gaming Sector: AGIC calls it as a strategic step toward harmonized rules and stronger player protection

The reorganization of the licensed public gaming sector, as envisaged under the fiscal delegation law, represents a strategic milestone for the entire industry.

This is a long-awaited and necessary measure which—following the positive outcome of the online gaming reform—can finally enable the rationalization of the retail offering and the consolidation of a regulatory framework based on uniform rules across the national territory, overcoming the fragmentation and inconsistencies that over the years have negatively affected legal certainty and the sustainability of the system.

For AGIC, the reorganization of the retail segment is also of central importance in terms of strengthening player protection measures. In particular, ensuring the traceability of bets and financial flows, implementing more effective tools to prevent and combat problem gambling, and introducing clear and transparent disclosure requirements are essential elements of a modern and balanced regulatory framework.

These measures are crucial to ensuring, over the next ten years, greater systemic coherence, growth in oversight and employment within the sector, stronger legality, and enhanced player protection, in line with the principles of proportionality, responsibility, and the safeguarding of the public interest.

AGIC reaffirms its willingness to contribute constructively to the institutional dialogue so that the reorganization of the retail sector may translate –  within the timeframe set by the delegation law – into a stable, effective, modern regulatory framework oriented toward the long-term sustainability of the licensed public gaming system.
